PESHAWAR: The Lower Dir district police on Monday claimed to have successfully traced a blind murder case of assistant public prosecutor Mohammad Saeed Advocate, who was gunned down in Chakdara on Oct 10.

Talking to Dawn on phone, Lower Dir district police officer Arif Shahbaz Wazir while confirming the report said that the investigation team worked hard and succeeded in tracing the killer of the lawyer who worked as assistant public prosecutor at the office of assistant commissioner, Adenzai Chakdara.

The police officer said that on a clue they arrested Imran, cousin of deceased Saeed, and during interrogation the accused confessed that his family members had hatched the conspiracy to kill the lawyer.

It merits a mention here that unknown attackers had knocked at the door of Mohammad Saeed Advocate late in the evening of Oct 10, and when the lawyer opened the door the attackers riding a motorbike shot him dead.

DPO Arif Shahbaz said that motive behind the crime was a property dispute as the deceased lawyer had claimed his mother’s share in inheritance.

The police official said that Muzaffar, father of accused Imran, and his brother, Javed, would also be arrested soon.

The officials at Chakdara police station said that the accused would soon be presented to the media. They said that further interrogation was underway.
