UPPER DIR: Two persons were killed and three others injured when a truck hit two motorcycles in Wari area of Upper Dir district late on Saturday night, police said.

They said the truck driver lost control over the vehicle after its brakes failed and struck two motorcycles. As a result, two bike riders were killed on the spot while three others got injuries.

The victims were identified as Samiullah and Naeem of Bin Dara, Brawal, while the injured were identified as Farooq and Naseeb. The name of the third injured could not be known.

Wari police and locals said the truck driver escaped from the scene. However, police registered a case and started further investigations. Two of the injured were referred to a hospital in Peshawar in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the district administration has removed all illegal speed-breakers in Brawal tehsil.

On the directives of deputy commissioner Khalid Iqbal Khattak, assistant commissioner Ubaid-ur-Rehman Dogar took the action.

Complaints about installation of illegal speed-breakers were received at an open kutchery held in Brawal.
