BERLIN: Borussia Dortmund’s Michael Delaney turned a Daichi Kamada shot into his own net in the 88th minute to hand hosts Eintracht Frankfurt an unexpected 2-2 draw on Sunday as his team dropped to third place in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund, fresh from their midweek 0-0 draw at home to Barcelona in the Champions League group stage, slipped to third place in the standings, a point behind Bayern Munich and three behind early leaders RB Leipzig.

Dortmund had already lost 3-1 at Union Berlin and have only 10 points after five games. Borussia Moenchengladbach also have 10 points after a late double from Marcus Thuram saw them come from a goal down to beat Fortuna Duesseldorf 2-1 earlier on Sunday.

Axel Witsel gave Dortmund an early lead after being picked out by Thorgan Hazard in the 11th. Both teams maintained a furious pace but Eintracht gradually gained the ascendency and Andre Silva duly equalised in the 44th.

Dortmund were again on top after the break and England teenager Jadon Sancho tapped in from close range off a Witsel pass in the 66th but surrendered an equaliser, failing to deal with two crosses before Japan midfielder Kamada forced Delaney to turn the ball into his own net.

Gladbach crashed to a shock 4-0 defeat at home by Austrian side Wolfsberg in the Europa League on Thursday and were heading towards a second loss in four days at Borussia Park before Thuram intervened.

Ghana defender Kasim Adams gave Duesseldorf a first-half lead, but Thuram turned the game by converting a cross seven minutes after coming on and then tapping home the late winner from a goalmouth scramble.
