16kg heroin seized near Charsadda

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise Intelligence on Sunday seized 16 kilogrammes of heroin from hidden portions of a car near Charsadda interchange.

Provincial in-charge excise intelligence, Syed Naveed Jamal, had constituted a special team to foil a smuggling bid after receiving information that huge quantity of narcotics was being smuggled to Punjab via Charsadda Motorway.

The team set up a checkpost and signalled a car to stop near Charsadda Interchange. On thorough search, 16 kilogrammes of heroin was recovered from its hidden cavities.

The team arrested the car driver, Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Risalpur.

A case was registered with anti-narcotics police station.
