DERA GHAZI KHAN: Three people suffered injuries in a roof collapse at Boys High School, Pir Adil Jadeed, on Wednesday.

Sources said teacher Parveen Bibi, student Arif and peon Asif sustained injuries when the roof of a classroom caved in.

Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to trauma center of teaching hospital of Ghazi Khan Medical College. According to doctors, the injured are stable.

It merits mentioning that the school administration had informed the department about the poor condition of the building.

COTTON: Farmers of Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan have been protesting against the alleged indifference of the agriculture department [for the last one week] to the attack of mealybug and white fly on cotton as well as against the private supplier of spurious pesticides.

Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur are among the best cotton growing areas of the country. Farmers of these areas have staged a number of protest demonstrations during the last one week but the agriculture department seems least bothered about the attack of mealybug and white fly on the crop.

When contacted, agriculture department deputy director (information) Asmat Kahloon said the cotton crop was cultivated on one million acre land in Dera Ghazi Khan division.

He claimed that the department had taken notice of the attack and formed teams to take steps to the effect. He said the issue of spurious pesticides was also being probed.
