LAHORE: A man allegedly killed his wife and injured his nine-month-old baby over a petty domestic dispute in the Baghbanpura area on Monday.

A police official said the suspect, Shahbaz, used to get upset with his wife, Rabia, on petty domestic issues and torture her.

On Monday night , the couple again exchanged harsh words and Rabia went out of home to purchase food for her infant baby.

As she returned, Shahbaz taunted her for leaving home without informing him. This led to an exchange of words between them once again.

The suspect attacked Rabia with a dagger and killed her on the spot. He also injured the baby. On hearing cries of the victims, the locals rushed to the house and alerted the police.

The police took him into custody, shifted the baby to hospital where his condition was stated to be serious.

The police said Shahbaz had also injured himself also in a bid to commit suicide.

They said action would be taken on receiving complaint from relatives of deceased woman.
