ISLAMABAD, July 23: The students of the Potohar region excelled in the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (HSSC) 2005 of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad, by clinching 17 out of total 33 top positions, according to the results declared on Saturday. Sana Mehmood Awan of the Army Public School and College, Attock, secured overall first position by obtaining all-time record 1,003 marks out of total 1,100 marks. Rabeea Saeed of the Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-7/4, and Aiman Riaz of the Army Public School and College, Humayun Road, Rawalpindi, bagged overall second and third positions by obtaining 982 and 979 marks, respectively.

According to controller examinations Muzaffarul Hasan, the pass percentage remained 78.10 as 27,730 students passed the HSSC Annual Examinations 2005 out of the total 35,559 candidates.

Sana Awan also stood first among girls in the pre- engineering group, while Mohammad Hanif of the F.G. Sir Syed College, The Mall, Rawalpindi Cantonment, secured first position among boys in the same group by obtaining 978 marks.

In the pre-medical group, first position among girls was clinched by Aiman Riaz with 979 marks, while Usman Khalid of the Fazaia Degree College, Shorkot, stood first among boys by obtaining 974 marks.

In the science-general group, Faryal Zafar of the Army Public School and College, Attock, and Aneel Javed of the Fazaia Degree College, Peshawar, stood first among girls and boys by obtaining 943 and 918 marks, respectively.

In the humanities group, Sumayya Nawaz of the Ghazali College for Women, Bhara Kahu, Islamabad, stood first among girls, while Hafiz Moazzam Shah, a private candidate, stood first among boys with 909 and 896 marks, respectively.

Erum Ehsan of the International School and College of Pakistan, Kuwait, obtained 854 marks and secured first position among girls in the commerce group. In the same group, first position among boys was clinched by Mujahid Ali of the Punjab College of Information Technology, Aabpara, Islamabad. Mujahid obtained 844 marks.

Meanwhile, the FBISE has announced that the applications for re-checking of papers will be received by August 22. The board has also announced that the HSSC supplementary examination 2005 will commence from September 27, and August 11 is the last date for submission of admission forms with normal fee. The board will receive admission forms till August 20 with late fee of Rs100 and with double fee till August 29.
