LAHORE: Top Seed Tayyab Aslam (SNGPL) won the FMC International Men’s Squash Championship after crushing eighth seed Danish Atlas in a lop-sided final here at the Punjab Squash Complex on Saturday.

Tayyab triumphed 11-8, 11-6 and 11-4. Tayyab held the sway throughout the proceedings as Danish failed to impose any threat in all the three games.

Tayyab displayed a controlled game as he made few unforced errors as compared to Danish. Tayyab’s calculative forehand and backhand shots left Danish stranded on many occasions.

Tayyab received some opposition from Danish in the first game, as both were tied at 7-7 at one stage. At the moments, the fans were expecting that a grueling final is in the offing. But their all hopes were dashed, once Tayyab took the command from 7-7 stage to win the first game after dropping just one more point.

In the second game, Tayyab was more offensive as he earned the win more easily, conceding only six points and the third game proved more one-sided for him as he breezed past to win it comfortably to lift the title.

Tayyab received a cash prize of Rs300,000, while Danish pocketed a cheque of Rs175,000.
