PESHAWAR: The Jamaat-i-Islami and Awami National Party have announced that their workers would stage protests against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government across the country after Eidul Fitr.

The Jamaat convened a meeting of its all district presidents, general secretaries and other office-bearers in Peshawar on Sunday to chalk out a strategy for launching the anti-government movement next month.

A statement issued here on Friday said JI provincial chief Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan had directed the party’s senior office-bearers from all districts to attend the meeting, which would discuss different options for the anti-government movement.

It added that all forums, including parliament, provincial assemblies and social media, would be used during the movement, while rallies would be taken out at tehsil and district levels.

The statement said the PTI government had failed to resolve the country’s socio-economic problems.

Insist PTI’s inefficiency has endangered country’s future

Mr Mushtaq said the Jamaat would launch a movement against the government soon after Eidul Fitr.

He said the government had completely surrendered its authority to the International Monetary Fund and other foreign institutions and accepted tough conditions for loans.

The lawmaker said the recent loan deal with the IMF was a huge surrender on part of the PTI government.

He flayed the new tax amnesty scheme saying the government has protected robbers and plunderers through the initiative.

Mr Mushtaq said the escalating inflation, record rupee devaluation and hike in oil, gas and electricity prices would badly affect the people.

He said inefficiency on part of the PTI had put the country future at stake.

The lawmaker said his party would hold seminars, rallies and sit-ins in big cities and towns of the province to expose the PTI’s failures.

Meanwhile, ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan told a function of workers in Charsadda that the party was set to begin protests against the PTI government across the country.

He claimed that people would soon get good news of the removal of the ‘corrupt and incapable’ government.

The ANP leader said the party would protest skyrocketing prices, which had stressed out the people.

He said the prices of essential commodities were on the rise and therefore, it was the responsibility of democratic forces to pressure the government to control them.

Mr Aimal said national economy was on the verge of collapse, while the inefficient rulers had mortgaged the country with international agencies.

He said the ‘puppet’ government should be ousted in the larger interest of the people.
