SHEIKHUPURA: A man on Friday confessed to killing his three-year-old son and disposing of his body into the canal.

He made the confession during interrogation by the Saddar police launched on the order of the Lahore High Court (LHC).

According to reports, the suspect, Hamid, a resident of village Kaloke, had divorced Saleema Bibi, the mother of minor, Haider, sometime back and snatched her son from her.

She suspected that her son had been killed by her former husband and tried her best to lodge a first information report (FIR) against her husband with the Saddar Police Station but all in vain.

She moved the LHC over the matter, submitting before the court that her former husband had divorced her and developed relations with another woman. He wanted to marry that woman and strangled Haider to please her.

The LHC, after hearing Saleema’s counsel’s arguments, ordered the police to arrest Hamid and investigate the matter.

The Saddar police arrested Hamid who gave the details of his gruesome act to the police.
