ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in collaboration with the district administration on Saturday conducted an operation against car dealers/showroom owners and others occupying footpaths and parking areas in G-8 Markaz.

According to an official statement, due to encroachments made by motorcar dealers, pedestrians had to face hardship while visitors found no space for parking.Six car showrooms - Auto Drive, Car Enclosure, New Car and Cars, Car Masters, Car Wells Rental and Pak Islamabad Motors - were sealed during the drive.

Unattended vehicles of car dealers and showrooms parked in the public parking areas were shifted to the Karachi Company police station.

Besides, three illegal kiosks, two berries and one Chapper hotel along with a tea stall were also demolished.

Several encroachments hindering the pedestrian movement and a number of illegally-constructed ramps and structures were also removed.

The operation was participated by around 300 officers and officials from the enforcement directorate, capital administration, Islamabad and traffic police and staff of other formations. —
