ISLAMABAD: Awami Workers Party (AWP) President Yousuf Musti Khan has called for unity of the left, democratic and secular forces to launch struggle against imperialist designs of proxy wars in the region.

In a message of solidarity to Pakhtun Jamhoori Ittehad (PJI) on the eve of its public meeting in KP on Sunday, he said: “I, on behalf of AWP leadership and workers, extend heartiest congratulations to the leaders of the PJI, express solidarity with the alliance and assure you of my party’s full support in launching practical struggle for the democratic, national, economic and other fundamental rights of the people of KP.”

He said the country had been passing through gravest political and economic crises of its history with working people trapped in the quagmire of poverty, rising inequality, exploitation and terrorism.

Mr Khan said relations with neighbouring countries had worsened while KP and Balochistan become a battleground for imperialist-sponsored proxy wars.

“As a result, the two provinces have witnessed an alarming increase in terrorist acts in recent months. The latest examples of which are the massacres of Hazara people in Quetta and 14 security personnel in Ormara this month.”
