LAKKI MARWAT: Two brothers drowned in a water tank in Wanda Kalan area on the outskirts of Lakki city on Wednesday.

Reports from the village said Huzaifa, 11, and his brother, Asad, 9, had gone to the water tank located in a brick kiln to fetch water for domestic use. While filling water Asad slipped and fell into the tank. Huzaifa jumped to rescue him but he also drowned.

The deceased belonged to a poor family and their father, Muzaffar Khan, is said to be a daily wager.

The bodies were shifted to the district headquarters hospital, where they were handed over to family after fulfilling medico-legal formalities.

The death of children gripped the rural locality with grief as touching scenes were witnessed at their funeral.
