BAHAWALPUR: The English Department of the Government Sadiq Egerton (SE) College was named after the late Prof Khalid Hameed who was killed by his student in the staffroom on Wednesday as the college closed after the gruesome murder reopened on Monday.

When the college was reopened, a large number of students and their teachers gathered on the premises to pay respect to the deceased with many of them having tearful eyes.

Amid the sobriety, gloom and sadness, the teachers announced the renaming of the department after Khalid Hameed, an associate professor of English literature.

It may be recalled that the alleged killer, Khateeb Hussain, is presently with police investigation team that had obtained his physical remand until April 15.

A special police team, headed by and a superintendent of police (SP), is engaged in interrogation.
