KOHAT: Rivals shot dead a couple and injured their son over a land dispute in Ambar Banda area near the Tanda Dam on Saturday.

The deceased Mehran Khan, his wife Nasia Bibi and their son, Musharraf Khan, were working in fields, when their armed rivals appeared there and asked them to leave the disputed land. However, upon their refusal and a brawl, the three were sprayed with bullets.

The couple died on the spot while their son sustained injuries.

They were shifted to the KDA Teaching Hospital. Later, the bodies were handed over to relatives after autopsy.

Injured Musharraf told the cantonment police that their rival relatives, Asghar Khan and Younis Khan, came to the fields armed with guns and opened fire on them after arguing with his parents.

The police registered the double murder case against the accused on the nomination of Musharraf and launched efforts to trace the culprits.
