PESHAWAR: The qualifying round of the National Junior Under-15 Boys and Girls Squash Championship got under way here at the PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Monday.
The tournament is featuring more than 100 players in the U-15, U-9 and U-13 age group categories.The Championship carries a prize money of Rs. 100,000 according to Qamar Zaman, vice president of the Pakistan Squash Federation.
He said the federation has fully focused on the junior age groups categories to provide ample opportunities to the upcoming players.
In the first day’s matches, Abdullah Khyber of Abbottabad beat Abu Zar 11-6, 9-11 and 11-3 while Mohammad Azhar Butt of Punjab defeated Haider Butt. In the girls’ event, Mahaira beat Mehvish by 11-3, 11-6 and 11-6.
