NAB arrests former Malir DC for alleged illegal transfer of government land

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested former deputy commissioner of Malir, Kazi Jan Muhammad, for his alleged role in the illegal disposal of 27 plots that belonged to the government, a press statement by the anti-graft watchdog said on Thursday.
The former deputy commissioner was arrested from Karachi's DHA Phase-VII.
Muhammad had allegedly issued orders to allot the land — located in Sector 31 of Karachi's Scheme-33 — to a fake settlement by the name of Abdullah Shah Gazi Block F-II "in connivance with other revenue officials", said the press release. The land disposed is worth Rs2.5 billion.
The bureau said that Muhammad — who is among the 172 officials whose names were placed on the exit control list by the federal cabinet last month on Dec 28 — is also nominated in several other NAB cases.
NAB produced the former deputy commissioner before an accountability court today and requested for his physical remand. The court granted Muhammad's remand to the bureau until January 14.

Good decision to put suspected corrupt individuals on ECL.. otherwise they would have flown out to the country where they have stashed away the looted wealth!! A living and shameful example is Ishaq Dar.. a sitting federal minister and a suspect who could not be arrested because his name was not on the ECL!

Very good step taken by NAB.In Scheme 33 Karachi,the Qabza Mafia in connivance with the government offices specially the concerned Asstt Commissioner, Mukhtiarkar,Tapedar and the area police have occupied and sold government/ private/Society lands to different people for their personal gains.Since our ruling elite had provided their support so genuine owners are running from one pillar to other without any success. NAB to look into this.

This civil service bureaucracy and politicians have robbed this country. If you look at their educational background they have degrees in English literature or history etc. and they head technical departments i.e. Income tax, Customs, Water and power, health education, Finance on and on. They know nothing about these fields and contribute towards the destruction of these departments. Here in the west a professional is only allowed to head their department that is why west is successful. Abolish this civil service and adopt models from Canada or USA.
