PESHAWAR: Awami National Party president Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that Pakistan will become Somalia and Ethiopia if Financial Action Task Force (FATF) demands are not accepted. He also called for across the board action against militant outfits to weed out terrorism from the country.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the ANP leader expressed concern over induction of Pakistan in the list of countries that violate religious freedom. He insisted that proscribed outfits had been operating with different names and national institutions had complete information about such organisations.

“Pakistan will become another Somalia if the government ignores concerns of the international community,” he said.

He said durable peace could not be restored unless across the board action was taken against all militant and extremist groups.

Countries like Pakistan, which was already on the “wheelchair” seeking bailout package from IMF could not sustain sanctions, he added.
