LAHORE: Co-favourite three-year-old filly Goleke Queen won the feature event as four favourites were forced to bite the dust in a seven-race card of the 15th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

Goleke Queen galloped to a fluent five-and-a-half lengths victory over four-year-old colt Gondal Prince to win the honours in The Niran Plate Class V and VI gone over 1,300 metres.

Battle Front seized third place two lengths behind while another joint favourite California had to be content with fourth spot being edged by head.

The other fancied horses who obliged all and sundry included three-year-old filly She Is Rawal and three-year-old colt Sarai Norang.

She Is Rawal, who settled third in last outing, made amends by getting the better of four-year-old filly Furious by head in a closely fought opening race.

Sarai Norang atoned for his last loss by coasting to five-and-a-half lengths victory over three-year-old filly Secret Lady in the next race.

The outsiders who pulled off surprises include four-year-old filly Sweet Miracle, three-year-old colt The Game Changer, filly Helena and colt Sahib.

Rider Tahir Abbas piloted home a brace of winners in Sweet Miracle and The Game Changer while trainer Abdul Rasheed excelled in his cadre while partnering Sarai Norang and The Game Changer.—AZ
