ISLAMABAD: The Counter Terrorism Force, Operations Division and Special Branch were asked to coordinate and draft a plan for the elimination of crime and to make Islamabad a secure city, the police said.

The directive was issued by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan during a meeting.

Police officials said the IGP directed the deputy inspector general operations to launch intelligence based operations in the capital immediately.

He ordered the Operations Division to beef up security at police pickets and that officers should be sensitised about the current security situation in the country.

The IGP directed that the campaign against the drug mafia should be continued as well.

He ordered for mock exercised to be held fortnightly in addition to the stop and search operations being conducted in the capital.

Police officials said IGP Khan ordered for standby reserves fully equipped with anti-riot gear to always be available.
