LANDI KOTAL: Power supply to most parts of Landi Kotal was restored on Tuesday after 10 days.

The power supply remained suspended for 10 days owing to uprooting of two power pylons in the area.

The staffers of local grid station said that the two damaged pylons were repaired after hectic efforts. They said that they were also assisted by the local volunteers.

Gusty winds knocked down two high transmission electricity pylons in Walikhel area on November 3 that resulted in disconnection of power supply to the entire Landi Kotal tehsil.

Sources said that some unidentified persons had stolen nut bolts of the pylons that caused their uprooting due to strong wind. They said that the grid station staff found nut bolts stolen from two more towers in the near-by localities that were also repaired.

Meanwhile, the administration at Torkham border has started a campaign against vehicles, particularly taxicabs, with tinted glasses.

Also, the custom clearing agents announced a complete strike on November 15 against the alleged highhandedness of National Logistic Cell staff at the Torkham border.

They held a protest demonstration on Tuesday and announced a complete strike with suspension of all the trading activities at Torkham to against what they called undue interference of NLC staff in their business.
