KARACHI, June 19: Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim invited the convicted mothers and the children living with them at Karachi Central Prison to Chief Minister’s House on Saturday.

He distributed clothes, gifts and toffees besides Rs1,000 cash among each of the children.

He called for establishing an institution within the jail having facilities of schooling, mosque, computer lab and other facilities. Besides, he said that a hostel should be constructed for training, education and welfare of such children. He assured that funds would be arranged by the government along with security arrangements.

The chief minister told the IG Prison that recently an orphanage had been established in Karachi and asked him to inspect the same or prepare a scheme for children in the jail under the proposed plan.—APP
