NOWSHERA: Khalid Wali Abid, an officer of the excise and taxation department, was killed when his vehicle overturned and caught fire on Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway here on Saturday.

Khalid Wali Abid, hailing from Chitral, was going in his official vehicle to Rawalpindi after office hours when the incident occurred on the motorway near Kalenger Kallay here. The car overturned and caught fire.

After the accident, police shared his picture on social media for identification as all relevant documents were burnt in incident. However, later the victim was identified as Khalid Wali Abid, excise and taxation officer, Peshawar.

The deceased was the son of Abdul Wali, a prominent lawyer of Peshawar High Court. He had joined judiciary as civil judge but later opted to join the excise department as excise and taxation officer.

The deceased was also a writer and his first poetry book in Khowar language “Dyan-i-Shtok” was published in 2014. He was also a polo player. He had married two years ago and had one year-old-daughter.
