LAHORE: The fate of around 38 luxury vehicles recovered from the public companies formed by Punjab’s former chief minister Shahbaz Sharif hangs in balance as the committee constituted by the sitting cabinet to deal with them
has yet to meet.
These vehicles were recovered on the direction of Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar and had been parked for more than three months. They include 14 luxury jeeps, cars and double-cabin four-wheelers.
The cabinet in its last meeting had constituted a committee under Law Minister Raja Basharat and Prosecution Minister Chaudhry Zaheeruddin to decide the fate of the vehicles.
But, official sources on Saturday said the committee formed for the purpose was yet to meet.
The initial idea was to either auction these vehicles or to put them to a “proper use”. But, the committee was to assess pros and cons of both the proposals and make recommendations to the cabinet.
