BAHAWALPUR: Regional Police Officer Faisal Muhammad Rana has ordered an inquiry into a row between police and doctors over the issue of medico-legal certificates (MLCs).

The RPO told Dawn that he had appointed SP (Legal) Javed Iqbal Bajwa an inquiry officer. He said a delegation of the Pakistan Medical Association’s Bahawalpur chapter called on him and apprised him of the situation. He said the inquiry officer had been asked to submit his report within three days.

Police and doctors of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) have been at loggerheads over issuance of medico-legal certificates in two cases.

The doctors alleged that DPO Dr Muhammad Iqbal pressured MS Dr Azizur Rehman to issue medico-legal certificates in the two cases.

The DPO, however, denied it.
