DERA MURAD JAMALI: A judicial magistrate sent 54 people belonging to the Hindu community to jail on Monday on charges of contempt of court.

Abdul Jabbar Achakzai, the district magistrate of Sohbatpur, ordered police to send them to jail after two groups of the community resorted to fistfights and badmouthing each other inside the court premises during the hearing of a case.

Police arrested the 54 people immediately and sent them to the district jail. The case was registered against as many as 564 persons from the two sides after they clashed over control of a temple in Sohbatpur town two weeks ago. The fight had left at least 15 people injured.
