ISLAMABAD: As many as 14 people were brought from Pirwadhai in Rawalpindi to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) in an unconscious condition on Tuesday.

“They were looted after being drugged in separate incidents but all of them regained consciousness after treatment.

“The patients said some people gave them free drinks or food and after consuming them they fell unconscious. They were then deprived of their money,” Pims media coordinator Dr Waseem Khawaja told Dawn.

He said the patients were going to their native villages to celebrate Eid or had gone to the local cattle market to buy sacrificial animals when they were defrauded.
