LAHORE: Cloudiness, rain and accompanying strong winds are likely to make weather pleasant during Eid holidays starting from Wednesday (today).

Rain on Monday night and Tuesday morning in Lahore and some other cities broke the extended spell of extreme mugginess. It was cloudy in the city in the evening and the Met department expects rain during night.

A spokesman for the Met Office said weak monsoon currents were prevailing in upper parts of the country which seemed to be strengthening from Friday.

Under these conditions, there are ample chances of rain-thundershower with gusty winds at isolated places in Hazara, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kalat divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir on Wednesday (today) and Thursday (tomorrow) and at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir on Friday.

Meanwhile, the weather remained hot and dry in most parts of the country. However, rain-thundershower occurred at isolated places in Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Lahore divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir.

Gujranwala recorded 80mm, Sialkot (airport 49, Cantonment 39), Gujrat 37, Rawalpindi (Shamsabad) 17, Lahore airport 12, Islamabad 6, Jhelum 1, Garidupatta 6 and Kotli 4.

The Flood Forecasting Division said nullahs of the rivers Ravi and Chenab may attain moderate flooding during the next 24 hours.
