UPPER DIR: Four persons were killed and 12 others injured when a passenger vehicle plunged into a ravine in Dislawar area of Upper Dir district, police said on Monday.

They said the passenger van was going to Patrak from Peshawar, taking Eid holidaymakers.

However, when it reached Dislawar area the driver lost control over the steering and the vehicle plunged into a ravine early on Monday. As a result, two passengers were killed on the spot while 12 others were injured who were shifted to a hospital in Wari. Six critically injured persons were shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Lower Dir, where two of the injured succumbed.

The two deceased were identified as Imranullah and Fazal Ghani; names of the two who died in Timergara hospital could not be ascertained.

The deceased and the injured belonged to remote Kohistan valley of Upper Dir.
