OKARA: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) sub-office established here in July at the main post office of Basirpur stopped functioning two weeks ago and has yet to resume operations.
Nadra had set up a counter in Basirpur with the cooperation of Pakistan Post to facilitate the villagers nearby who had to earlier travel to Deepalpur and Hujra Shah Muqeem. Staffers of Pakistan Post were deputed here after being trained by Nadra.
Locals said this counter was a great facility that had stopped functioning, as its computer and camera had gone out of order.
Nadra Zone 9 district in-charge Deputy Director Ahmed Naseer Chaudhry told this correspondent that this centre had been established to facilitate people for renewal of their identity cards or get duplicate ones issued.
The camera installed at this facility was slow as data of only eight to 10 people could be entered in a day.
Beside, Pakistan Post had not yet provided trained staff for this centre.
However, this facility would soon be functional after its camera was repaired and other devices provided, he claimed.
