QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly Speaker Qudoos Bizenjo has extended the voting for the chief minister by one day to August 18 (Saturday) on the request of opposition members.

According to the Assembly Secretariat, only Balochistan Awami Party president Jam Kamal Khan has submitted his nomination papers for the slot of chief minister.

Opposition’s candidate for the post of chief minister Malik Sikandar, Advocate, complained on Thursday that he had received the schedule from the assembly secretary regarding voting for speaker and deputy speaker, but had no information about filing of nomination form for the slot of chief minister.

“At 6pm, we were told that today was the last day for submitting nomination form for chief minister, which is not a good example for the whole assembly.” Malik Sikandar added.

Stressing the need to make sure implementation of the assembly’s code of conduct, Sana Baloch of the BNP Mengal said the assembly secretaries didn’t follow the rules and regulations while issuing the schedule for voting of the leader of the house.

Giving a ruling on Sana Baloch’s request, Speaker Qudoos Bizenjo extended the date for the submission of nomination papers for the post of chief minister by one day and called the next session of the assembly on August 18.
