PESHAWAR: At least 25 people were killed and many others received injuries in road accidents and incidents of violence in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during Eid holidays, according to police and hospital sources.

In Lakki Marwat, seven people, including a woman, were killed in road accidents and firing incident during Eid days.

Police said that a woman and her child were killed and three others were injured when an auto-rickshaw skidded off the road and fell into a canal near Naurang town.

In another incident in Lakki Marwat, two persons were killed when their motorbike hit a tree near Manjiwala Chowk. A pickup truck carrying villagers for Eid outing overturned near Bachkan Ahmadzai on Malang Adda-Tajori Road. As a result, a man died on the spot while nine others were wounded. A minor also fell from a running three-wheeler and died on the spot. In Tajazai area of Lakki Marwat, Fazl Karim was shot dead by his rivals over old enmity.

In Chitral, a suspension bridge in Washich village collapsed on Monday when a jeep carrying five persons was passing through it. The jeep fell into the river, killing two people and injuring the other three.

The killed persons were identified as Saeedur Rahman and Wajidur Rahman. The injured included Wajeehur Rahman, Yormas Murad and Ziaur Rahman.

In Mansehra, Mohammad Osama and Murad Ali were killed when their motorcycle was hit by a wagon in Kotkay area on Sunday.

In Nowshera, four people including a woman were killed and at least 71 others received injuries in different incidents during the Eid holidays. Most of the injured were motorcyclists.

In the first incident, a woman committed suicide in Nizampur area.

In the other incident, a local leader of JI Hazrat was shot dead allegedly by Javed, Shah Faisal and Mamraiz over old enmity.

Javed Iqbal, a resident of Swabi, drowned in the river near Kund Park. His body was retrieved by workers of Rescue-1122.

Murad Khan Khattak of Khairabad was shot dead allegedly by Khan Haiderand Tariq over an old enmity.

In Bannu, at least five people, including a woman, were killed and 11 others suffered injuries in road accidents and incidents of violence during the Eid days.

In the first incident, a man shot dead his wife and another man allegedly over suspicion of having illicit relations in the limits of Miryan police station. In another incident, a married woman committed suicide by taking poisonous pills in Shamsikhel area. Similarly, a woman was killed inside her house in Domel area.

Eleven people were injured when a car collided with a rickshaw near Domel.

In Karak, five people were killed and four others received injuries in different incidents.

A teenager identified as Sameer Khan drowned in Ghol Dam. In Alikhel area, Shamsher Ghani and Raza Khan were killed when their motorcycles collided head on.

In another incident, Kamran and Hasnain were killed when a motorcycle rammed into a tractor near Monakhel area. In Banda Daud Shah, a Lakki Marwat-bound car overturned on Indus Highway, injuring four men travelling in the car.

In Shangla, about 11 people were injured in road accidents during the Eid holidays.

Seven persons were injured when a pickup truck fell into a gorge on Chakesar Road.

Four motorcyclists were injured in three accidents in Bisham and Alpuri.
