KARACHI: An antiterrorism court (ATC) on Saturday directed Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Dr Farooq Sattar to appear in court on May 5 to answer in hate speech cases against him and others.

Dr Sattar, with a number of other MQM leaders, is facing charges in connection with cases pertaining to the Aug 22 speech of MQM founder Altaf Hussain, which triggered a violent protest, arson attacks and ransacking of media houses.

On Saturday, MQM leaders, including Mehfooz Yar Khan, Shahid Pasha and Junaid Lakhani, were present in court except Farooq Sattar.
