ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) is optimistic about the national team producing good results in the four-nation Challenger Cup to be held in Kazakhstan from May 16 to 21.

The national team has been undergoing training here at the Pakistan Sports Complex for around a month, and the camp will continue further for almost one month. The camp is being supervised by Iranian coach Hamid Movahedi.

Speaking to Dawn, PVF chairman Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqoob said all the players were training extensively for the said event during which they will face Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei and Qatar.

“I am expecting good results from our team in this championship,” the PVF chairman said.

“Players of U-18, U-20 and the senior team are training at the camp under the supervision of a qualified Iranian coach,” he said, adding that besides the Challenger Cup the team was also being trained for the 2018 Asian Games being held in August-September in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the PVF chairman said the federation is also planning to hold central zone Asian Championship in October-November in Islamabad in which 14 teams including those from India, Iran, Bangladesh and Kazakhstan will participate.
