ISLAMABAD: Disciplinary action was initiated against 100 police officials for their alleged involvement in corrupt practices or illegal activities.

The officials were allegedly involved in corrupt and illegal activities, including links with drug peddlers, bootleggers and the land mafia. Besides, they were also involved in minting money from people during investigation of different cases.

All the officials were in the rank of constable to sub-inspector, a senior police officer said, adding show-cause notices had been issued to them to reply to the allegations.

Reviewing the performance of the police on Thursday, Inspector General Dr Sultan Azam Temuri said the capital police were following a zero tolerance policy against corruption. He said 100 police employees had to face disciplinary action for their alleged involvement in corruption or illegal activities.
