LAHORE: The Peoples Unity defeated the Air League in the PIA CBA union referendum 2018 on Thursday.

Backed by the Pakistan Peoples Party, Jamaat-i-Islami and MQM-P, the Peoples Unity got 4,228 votes defeating the ruling PML-N-backed Air League (1,888). The PTI’s backed Insaf Front secured 78 votes.

The Peoples Unity’s campaign was against privatisation of the national flag carrier. The last referendum was held in 2013 in which Air League had won.

PIA Officers Association Secretary General Athar Awan congratulated the Peoples Unity for securing a historic win.
