RAWALPINDI: A construction worker was found murdered in his house on Monday, police said.

Syed Fakhar Abbas was associated with a construction company as a foreman and living with his family in Banaras Colony for five years.

Police said the wife of the deceased had gone to her parents’ house and tried to call her husband on his mobile phone but did not get a response. Later, she approached the police.

When the police reached the house, Mr Abbas’ room was locked from inside and its light switched on.

“He was found murdered with a head injury. A brick with which he want hit was lying close to the body,” the station house officer (SHO) of Airport police told Dawn.

The SHO said the victim had a land dispute in his native town. His brother lodged a murder case with the police nominating four people as suspects. Meanwhile, four family members were hospitalised with burn injuries after a fire broke out in their house on Adiala Road due to a gas cylinder explosion on Sunday night.

The injured were Zaibunnisa, 50, her children Amir Javed, Ehtisham Farooq, 16, and Saima Farooq, 18.

They were shifted to the Holy Family Hospital where the condition of Ms Nisa was stated to be critical as she had 40pc burns on her body.
