ISLAMABAD: A policeman was injured in an attack by gunmen on I. J. Principal road on Wednesday, police stated.

It was third incident on I. J. P. Road since January in which police patrolling team came under attack.

According to details, a two-member patrolling team spotted motorcycle riders acting suspiciously near Faizabad Bus Terminal.

They signaled them to stop but they ignored and sped away. The patrolling team later intercepted them after a brief chase.

Suddenly, the riders pulled out pistols and started firing at officials injuring one of them.

The police also fired at them, but the gunmen ran away on foot leaving their motorcycle behind.

Later, the injured policeman was provided medical treatment in a hospital and later kept there under observation.
