PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finance department has agreed to create 644 posts of various categories for the burns and trauma centre and Peshawar Institute of Cardiology.

Documents available with Dawn show that 347 posts of various categories would be created for the under-construction burns and trauma centre.

Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had earlier approved a summary moved by the health department in that regard.

The breakdown of posts includes 61 positions of BS-20 to 17, 120 nurses of BS-16 and 10 computer operators among others. The documents show that expenditure involved therein will be met from the sanctioned budget grant of the institution concerned during the current financial year.

The finance department has also agreed to the creation of 297 posts for the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology.

The breakdown of posts shows that there will be a chief medical officer, six cardiologists, six cardiac surgeons, eight anesthetists, 60 trainee registrars and three pathologists among others. The operating expenses of the institute would be around Rs589 million, while equipment would cost Rs746 million.
