MANSEHRA: A man and his mother died of suffocation caused by gas leak in Ghazikot Township here early on Saturday.

Mohammad Azam, an employee of the education department, his mother and daughter, Imama, 8, had fallen unconscious after the room they were sleeping in filled with gas from a heater.

Locals said the family might have forgotten switching off the heater due to gas outages, and later when the supply was restored, it filled the room with the gas.

All the three victims were shifted to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, where the doctors pronounced Azam and his mother dead and declared the condition of Imama to be out of danger.

They said the treatment of the minor was underway.
