CHAKWAL: Eight children were injured after a school wall collapsed on them in the Hasola village, in the Dhudial police area, on Saturday evening.

The children were taken to the Chakwal District Headquarters Hospital, where one child, Abubakr Siddique, was referred to Rawalpindi due to his condition. Two children, Zainab and Kazim, suffered leg fractures.

According to sources, 20 children between the ages of six and 10 were studying at a tuition centre operated in a house near the Government Primary School Saturday evening.

A portion of the house was under construction, and a trolley carrying soil had been brought to the house for this reason. Because the trolley could not enter the house, the owner of the house asked his cousin, the headmistress of the neighbouring school, to open the school gate.

The trolley unloaded the soil against a wall of the school, which was unable to sustain the weight of the soil and collapsed, injuring eight children.

Villagers pulled the children out of the wreckage and took them to the hospital.
