Nedelko downs Riba to clinch ITF Futures title

ISLAMABAD: Maintaining his supremacy intact, top seed Russian Ivan Nedelko outclassed Spaniard Pere Riba in straight sets to win Serena Hotels ITF Futures men’s singles title here at the PTF Complex on Sunday.

The top seed was at his best and overpowered Riba, the former world number 65 and Grand Slam player 6-3,6-4.

Two more ITF Futures are scheduled to be held, with the main round of the Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan ITF Futures starting Monday at the PTF Complex which will feature a larger number of players.

Eight Pakistani players including two qualifiers Ahmed Chaudhry and Heera Ashiq, four wild card entrants Abid Ali Akbar, Muhamamd Abid, Shahzad Khan and Muzammil Murtaza, and national champion Aqeel Khan are participating in the event.

Whereas, in the said championship, besides European and Russian players several Indian players, will also be seen in action.

After this championship, another event, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed International ITF Future will also be staged.
