ISLAMABAD: After a prolonged dry spell, rain, thunderstorm and snowfall is expected in the upper parts of the country, including the twin cities, from tomorrow (Monday).
The Met Office has said isolated rainfall is also expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the upper Federally Administered Tribal Areas, south Punjab, northeast Balochistan and Sindh, while cold and dry conditions are expected to prevail elsewhere in the country.
As a westerly wave is expected to enter the country today (Sunday) from Balochistan, rainfall and snowfall are expected in various parts of the country from Sunday to Wednesday.
The weather system is also expected to bring snowfall in Murree and Galiyat on Monday and Tuesday, while rain and thunderstorms would continue until Wednesday. The minimum temperature in Islamabad fell to 3°C, while the maximum temperature was 23°C. Temperatures will likely drop significantly as a result of rain and snow in the Murree area.
While rainfall will lower the floating dust particles in the lower atmosphere over the cities, lower temperatures will bring additional difficulties for urban residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
A similar weather pattern is expected in scattered parts of upper Punjab, KP, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during these days.
The Met Office has also said that two to three spells of rain are expected in various parts of the country with snowfall over mountainous regions in December.
But shallow foggy conditions may prevail in the plains of Punjab and KP and upper Sindh during this month.
