NOWSHERA: The police on Wednesday arrested an alleged facilitator of terrorists in Nowshera, terming it a great achievement in the fight against militancy.
Police said Qari Ahmad Ali of Shaidu area was wanted for carrying out remote-controlled bomb blasts at government high school Adamzai, and Akora Khattak in October 2012. Akora Khattak police had registered FIR against the accused.
He was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court Mardan and was handed over to Akora Khattak police on a two-day physical remand.
Police sources said the Counter-Terrorism Department Nowshera was optimistic that the arrest would lead to nabbing of other facilitators of terrorists in the district.
Meanwhile, a private clinic and medical store were gutted when fire erupted in a market in Pabbi on Wednesday.
However, due to timely arrival of Rescue 1122 team the fire was controlled thus, preventing it from reaching other shops in the vicinity. The owner of the medical store told police that medicines worth millions of rupees and cash were burnt in the fire.
Similarly, owner of the clinic said he suffered a loss of Rs500,000.
Pabbi police registered FIR and started investigation.
