Three policemen suspended

KOHAT: Three policemen were suspended after an alleged drug smuggler brought to the special court for trial ‘fled’ from their custody here on Saturday.

A police statement said one Jandad Khan who was arrested recently while smuggling hashish from Orakzai Agency had been remanded in police custody and sent to jail. He belonged to Khyber Agency.

The statement said as the accused was not handcuffed due to unknown reasons thus, he found the chance and fled from the court premises. The police made hectic efforts to trace the culprit, but found no clue of him.

The suspended policemen, who were sent behind the bars, were named Wiaz Khan, Awais and Shafqat. The cantonment police registered case against them and began investigations.
