ISLAMABAD: The chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior, Rehman Malik, claimed on Friday that the Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), was involved in terrorist activities in Balochistan.

“India has allocated $500 million to create unrest and disturbance in Balochistan and the aim is to sabotage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

The government should raise the matter about involvement of RAW in Balochistan at the United Nations,” Mr Malik said during a meeting of the committee.

The meeting adopted a resolution condemning recent acts of terrorism in Balochistan in which DIG Quetta Hamid Shakeel, SP Muhammad Ilyas and 15 people belonging to Punjab had lost their lives.

Senator Malik urged the government to inform the world about the activities of India because of which people of Pakistan had been suffering.

Senator Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hassani also blamed India for unrest in Balochistan.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement lawmaker retired Col Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi said that efforts should be made to foil the Indian conspiracy.

Senator Sirajul Haq said that thousands of Baloch people had left the country to live abroad, adding that there was a need to look into the root cause of the problem.

The committee decided to call top officials of the ministries of finance and interior and other departments to its next meeting to discuss release of funds for Balochistan by the federal government.
