According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended October 20, deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs11,685.493 billion after a 0.40 per cent decrease over the preceding week’s figure of Rs11733.096bn.

Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs10,301.370bn, the current week’s figure was higher by 13.44pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs11,601.288bn against preceding week’s deposits of Rs11,653.240bn, showing a fall of 0.45pc. Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs84.206bn, higher by 5.45pc against previous week’s figure of Rs79.855bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs16,502.670bn, lower by 0.17pc over preceding week’s figure of Rs16,530.303bn. Current week’s figure is higher by 17.31pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs14,067.672bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,236.693bn, smaller by 0.20pc over previous week’s figure of Rs16,268.197bn, while total assets of specialised banks at Rs265.977bn, were higher 1.48pc over the previous week’s Rs.262.106bn.

Borrowings were higher by 0.22pc against the previous week

Gross advances of all scheduled banks stood at Rs6,135.235bn, higher by 0.14pc over the preceding week’s figure of Rs6,126.880bn. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs5,140.605bn, current week’s figure is higher by 19.35pc.

Advances by all commercial banks increased to Rs5,963.132bn from previous week’s Rs5,954.921bn indicating a rise of 0.14pc, whereas advances of specialised banks stood at Rs172.103bn against previous week’s Rs171.959bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks increased in the week under review. It rose by 0.22pc to Rs2,690.479bn against previous week’s Rs2,684.652bn. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs1,729.981bn, current week’s figure is higher by 55.52pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs2,604.601bn were higher by 0.22pc against previous week’s Rs2,598.774bn. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs85.878bn against the previous week’s figure.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs8,322.375bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs8,349.013bn, lower by 0.32pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs7,235.008bn, current week’s figure is higher by 15.03pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs8,256.427bn, lower by 0.38pc against preceding week’s figure of Rs8,288.367bn, whereas investment by all specialised banks stood at Rs65.948bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs60.646bn.

Cash and balances with treasury banks of all scheduled banks decreased over the week and stood at Rs.913.549bn against previous week’s Rs944.763bn, showing a fall of 3.30pc. Current week’s figure increased by 14.35pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs798.922bn.

Cash and balances of all commercial banks stood at Rs909.401bn, smaller by 3.31pc over previous week’s Rs940.528bn. Cash and balances of all specialised banks were lower by 2.05pc at Rs4.148bn against the preceding week’s Rs4.235bn.
