GWADAR: A suspected militant was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the Dashat Basohli area of Kech district on Sunday, official sources said.

They said Frontier Corps personnel had launched a search operation in the area after receiving information about the presence there of armed militants from a banned organisation.

A heavy exchange of fire took place between the security forces and militants, resulting in the death of a suspect. He was identified as Muhammad Munir, son of Muhammad Ibrahim, a resident of the Garkani Seechi area of Balnigore.

Other militants managed to escape.

Security forces continued the search operation till late in the night and took some suspects into custody for interrogation.
