Have you ever returned from vacation and wondered why your bed doesn't look like the one you left behind at your hotel?

Lifestyle expert Urooj Mughal tells us what's up as she reveals: "It's not just the bed, it's the overall ambience of the hotel room. Keep in mind the interiors, and the way they are furnished which make it so alluring."

So how do you get the same look in your own home, that too without breaking the bank?

"It's the fact that hotel beds are usually different from our beds at home. Most people at home have just two pillows and a duvet, or not even that. You'll notice that in hotel rooms, there are more pillows, then there are tons of cushions, as well as a duvet. All of that just makes you want to jump right in!"

But is investing in a duvet necessary?

Duvets can make your bed look more comfy and inviting, and can also add a splash of colour to your room. Even a simple decor can pop out with the right use of accessories on your bed, which, contrary to popular assumption, don't cost much and are also easy to maintain.

The key is choosing duvets with matching cushions and pillows for that chic hotel vibe.

"Like I mentioned, there are many elements to making a bed comfortable and enticing," continues Urooj. "You need to have all the proper components, for example, try a look with four pillows, cushions, a duvet, shams, soft sheets. You have to create a cosy vibe"

This helpful video shows how to arrange your bed linen the pro way.

The material you use in your room also matters.

"I would always recommend 100% cotton for your bed, keeping the weather and our skin in mind," says Urooj. "What kind of prints you opt for should be determined by which room you're buying them for. Like a bachelor pad will have a different colour palette, leaning towards browns and blacks. It's all about making sure they're compatible with the rest of your room."

And what about colours? Which shades work in the bedroom?

"If your room is small, go for lighter, pastel colours," adds Urooj. "Sophisticated single colours work for master bedrooms. If you're buying sheets for your children's room, you can let your imagination run wild. Teenagers particularly like geometric prints."
