KARACHI: Good batting by all-rounder Rizwan Qureshi and Ali Raza guided Mujahid Gymkhana into the quarter-finals of the inaugural Mohammad Siddique Memorial Cricket Tournament here on Wednesday.

Mujahid Gymkhana cantered to their third successive win in Pool ‘B’ by handing Al-Hussaini CC an eight-wicket drubbing at the Pak Flag CC Ground.

Batting first, Al-Hussaini CC collected 174-8 in the allotted 30 overs. Mohammad Ghafoor was the chief scorer with 47, which included three fours and brace of sixes, while Faizullah (34, three boundaries), Mohammad Osama (33, three fours) and Zakir Ali (26, two fours) also batted well.

Mujahid Gymkhana skipper Younis Khan grabbed two wickets for 30 runs with his off-breaks and paceman Haider Razzaq took 2-36.

Mujahid Gymkhana then got the required runs in just 17.4 overs by racing to 175-2. Rizwan slammed 63 from 40 deliveries with seven boundaries and one six, while Akbar Khan Afridi contributed 47 off 26 balls with six fours as the duo put on 110 for the opening partnership.

Ali Raza banged two sixes and five fours in a quickfire unbeaten 51 off only 25 balls.
